The breakthrough  AND 1 came with the legendary AND 1 Mixtape Vol.1, the tape that showed the streetball prodigy Rafer "Skip ton My Lou" shows Alston in moves never seen before and triggered hysterics among basket ball players and fans. Thanks to the combination with current hip hop tunes the mixtape became famous even among non-basketballers!
